The 2-day course  given by Dr. Wei Chieh Young ended with tremendous success in Austin, Texas, 2/27-2/18/10.

There were close to 300 Licensed Acupuncturist attended the Southwest Symposium in Austin, Texas, 2/17-2/18/10. Dr. Wei Chieh Young gave a 2-day lecture on commonly used Dr. Tungˇ¦s Extraordinary Points and their clinical applications for pain therapy. Originally, there were 80 + pre-registered attendants; because the lecture was very exciting with lots of practical pointers; the attendants increased to more than 100 after the first session; and the lecture hall was filled to capacity.

                  

On the second day, Dr. Young demonstrated the needling techniques for some of Dr. Tungˇ¦s points.  The first case was the treatment for a patient with shoulder pain and he was unable to his raise arm up for more than 8 months. After Dr. Young inserted one needle in Quling (33.16) point, the patient was able to raise his arm up normally. All the audiences were very impressed and broke out with big cheers and applaud. The second case was the treatment for a patient with stiff neck and shoulder area. The patient felt his neck and shoulder area relaxed and loosened up right away after Dr. Young inserted a needle in Shenguan (77.18) and Tungˇ¦s Yanglingquan (GB34) point. The third case was treatment for a patient with tennis elbow, and the patient felt immediate pain relief as well. Dr. Young also demonstrated a few more Dr. Tungˇ¦s points: Fuke (11.24), Shuijin (1010.20), Muxue (11.17), Sanchasan (A 04), Biyi (1010.22), etc, all with very good results.

 

The practitioners who attended the lectures claimed that the 2-day lecture not only widened their vision about acupuncture, the knowledge they learned is worth more than a few years of studying. They gave Dr. Young a standing ovation at the end of the lecture, showing Dr. Young their satisfaction with his tremendous teaching; as well as their appreciation for his willingness to share his personal experiences. A lot of them went up to the front of the classroom after the 2-day lecture to shake hands with Dr. Young and to thank him with a bow.
