The World Association of Tung’s Acupuncture :

A special publication to commemorate

 the 35th anniversary of Master Ching-chang Tung’s death

** A call for papers (CFP) is a method used in academic and other contexts for collecting book or journal articles or conference presentations. A CFP usually is sent to interested parties, describing the broad theme, the occasion for the CFP, formalities such as what kind of abstract (summary) has to be submitted to whom and a deadline.
 

Dr. Ching-Chang Tung was the grand master of acupuncture. He often provided free medical care to the sick and poor and he was awarded several times for the title of “The Representative of Fine People and Fine Deeds.” He taught the valuable acupuncture knowledge that had been kept as family secretes for generations to the world.


35 years after Dr. Tung’s death, Tung's Extra Acupuncture Points have spread all over the world. In many countries, Tung
’s acupuncture is even more popular than the traditional 14 meridian acupuncture.  In commemoration of  the contribution of Dr. Tung’s teaching of his family secret on Tung’s extra points, and in the hope that more people can understand and utilize Tung's acupuncture system; we are inviting the fellow practitioners and expert scholars to write papers to share their experiences of Tung’s acupuncture.  With concerted efforts, we can
accomplish a great achievement in promoting Tung’s acupuncture system.

 
Method:

I.    The thesis type:

1.  The theme of the paper should focus on Dr. Tung’s original bookTung’s Acupuncture董氏針灸正經奇穴學》 published in August 1973.  It should contain a clear point of view, with innovative explanation and avoid vague discussions. Topics may include but are not limited to the name of the point, anatomical description of the point location (Tung’s anatomical description), point locating method, indications, and needle insertion techniques, etc.

2. The paper is limited to 8000 words, and the abstract is limited to 800 words or less. Deadline for the full text and abstract is Sept. 25, 2010.  Please use the Word document for the paper and abstract, and e-mail them to: The World Association of Tung’s Acupuncture at watatcm@gmail.com.  In your email subject line, please specify “Calls for Papers.”  Please include the real name and pen name (if applicable) of the author, and work place. Please also attach a brief description of your learning experience with Tung’s acupuncture at the end of the text. (It is for the review committee’s reference only and will not be published without prior permission from the author).
 

II .    Case Studies

1. Any case study reports with treatment application of Tung's points are very welcomed. The case study report should include: gender, age, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment principle, selected points, the reasons and thoughts to select those points, needle insertion techniques, treatment progress and results.

Please submit the case reports to the World Association of Tung’s Acupuncture by email t at watatcm@gmail.com before the deadline on September 25, 2010.  In your email subject line, please specify “Calls for Papers.”  At the end of the text, please include the real name and pen name (if applicable) of the author, and work place and also attach a brief description of the author’s learning experience with Tung’s acupuncture. (It is for the review committee’s reference only and will not be published without prior permission from the author).

2. There is no limitation to the length of the case study report, but the efficacy of the treatment should prevail. Each person can present a number of case studies. The review committee reserves the right to revise the report if it is deemed too long. However, the revised case study report will be sent back to the original author for approval before being published.
 

Awards: In the thesis category, one or two winners will be selected among every fifty papers.  In the case study report category, one winner will be selected among every one hundred reports.  The winners will be invited to present their papers or case reports at the First International Symposium on Tung’s Acupuncture in Qing Dou, China.  The First International Symposium on Tung’s Acupuncture will cover the winners’ expenses of accommodation, air-ticket, and transportation.   
 

III. Other notes

There will be no monetary reward for the contributed papers.   However, a collection of the thesis will be printed and dispatched to all the contributors. The review committee and the authors shall co-own the copyright of all contributed articles.  The outstanding papers and case studies will be published on the soon-to-be-opened “The Discussion Corner of The Tung's Extra Points.”  

 

*Note:  For those participants who do not have the bookTung’s Acupuncture 董氏針灸正經奇穴學, they may use Dr. Weichieh Young’s books on Tung’s Acupuncture as a reference to research for the content.
