Special Seminar
Dr. Young’s special seminars are multi-day intensive courses on various topics on TCM hosted and held personally by Dr. Young.
I. Complete Course of Tung’s Acupuncture
This is a 4-day foundation course appropriate for TCM practitioners with many years to no experience in Tung’s Acupuncture. This class will start with an explanation of the theory behind Tung’s acupuncture using Nei Jing and Yi Jing. Then we will go into depth about each point: its location, indication, and theory. The goal of this course is to come away with a clear comprehension of the theory, location, and application of Tung’s points. This course will also be supplemented by many clinical case stories as well as demonstrations.
PREREQUISITE: This is the prerequisite for other advanced courses held by Dr. Young. This course is held typically once a year in June, given in Mandarin and translated to English.
II. Advanced Course in Tung’s Acupuncture
This is a 4-day advanced seminar in Tung’s Acupuncture. This course will offer advanced theory and look at therapeutic systems.
PREREQUISITE:You MUST HAVE completed the “Complete Course in Tung’s Acupuncture.” This course is typically held every other year around the second week of October. It is given in Mandarin by Dr. Young and translated to English.
III. One-Needle Therapy
This is a 4-day advanced course that deals with various common diseases and the one point especially effective for them. This seminar will give you the theory and application of these especially effective “one-point”, enabling you to know how to freely select and apply the points in the clinic.
PREREQUISITE: You MUST HAVE completed the “Complete Course in Tung’s Acupuncture.” This course is typically held once every other year around the second week of October. It is given in Mandarin by Dr. Young and translated to English.
IV. Shang Han Lun
This is a special seminar on the application of commonly used herbal formulas in Shang Han Lun. Dr. Young taught on this topic only in PhD courses prior. This seminar was initiated after many requests this year and future scheduling for this course is indefinite. Though this is a three-day seminar, attendees will receive course handouts a month in advance to study at home. The home-study material will supplement a day’s worth of material to the three-day seminar to ensure grasp of the material. Dr. Young typically focuses on concept, proficiency and experience when teaching in schools; but this seminar will provide on technique, insights and innovations.
PREREQUISITE: This course is held in Mandarin only at this time.
"The Complete Courses of Tung's Acupuncture"
Los Angeles, California
June 15-18, 2012
Seminar Description
(Theories, Points, Manipulations, and Therapeutics)
This is the Complete Courses of Tung’s Acupuncture offered in America endorsed by the World Association of Tung’s Acupuncture and will be taught by Dr. Wei-Chieh Young. Dr. Young will combine years of experience from Master Tung and himself with a lot of case studies supplemented by Chinese medicine theories in explaining Tung’s Acupuncture. The goals of this course are to enable the attendants to locate the Tung's points correctly and learn the theories, applications, and general therapeutics in a short time (See Past Seminars).
Dr. Wei-Chieh Young is one of few direct disciples of Master Tung that has been practicing Chinese medicine for nearly forty years without cessation, and is an expert in Nei Jing, Yi Jing and Shang Han Lun. He is a renowned author with many popular books in the fields of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, Nei Jing, and Yi Jing. He is the first Chinese medical doctor to introduce Tung’s Acupuncture to the world and have nearly forty years of teaching experience in Tung’s Acupuncture and the 14 channels.
The Value of Direct Transmission
When Learning the Wisdom of Master Tung
Real knowledge sometime can’t be received from books; it is through direct transmission that knowledge and techniques can be received. This requires being with the teacher and experiencing that person through observation and guided practice. Thus the subtle qualities of the senior practitioner can be received.

Why do I have to complete the Complete Courses before taking the Advanced Courses?
According to several years of experience in instructing the Complete Courses and attendants' feedbacks, many students felt the fundamental courses was profound and had problem following the classes, not to say the advanced courses. That is why we require completion of the fundamental class (the Complete Courses) before taking the advanced course; otherwise the participants might have difficulty following the class and therefore waste their precious time and money. This is particularly true for those traveling all the way from foreign countries ex, Asia, Europe; and we cannot bear for this situation to happen. In fact, the Complete Courses are sufficient and useful in clinical practice. Therefore we suggest one take the Complete Courses (fundamentals) first and if time allows in the future, join us for the advanced course.

One-Needle Therapy Seminar
Scheduled on November 11-14 (Fri.-Mon.), 2011
Open exclusively to Complete Courses attendees
One-needle therapy is the supreme realm in acupuncture. It is crystallized from the essences of theories and experience; refined and summarized from hundreds thousands of clinical treatments in decades; and insights gained from reading ten thousands of books and traveling tens of thousands of miles to study with various teachers.
Course contents: highly effective one-needle points, selected from the 14 channels and Tung’s Acupuncture, for common diseases seen in the departments of internal medicine, dermatology, gynecology, pediatrics, and five-sense organs. Individual one-needle point is effective in the treatment. However, combining two or above one-needle points will enhance the efficacy. *How to select the one-needle point? *What are the techniques? *And what are the reasons and theories? All these topics will be covered in depth in this seminar.
For Example:
One-needle points for treating facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy) are: inner Jiache (ST6) with 3-edged needle; ear back (bleeding), Cesanli, Shangjuxu (ST37), Taichong (LV3), Hegu (LI4), Fenglong (ST40), Dicong (ST4), Xiaguan (SJ5), Yifong (SJ17), Laogong (PC8), etc. Every point along can handle the task.
Treating vertigo or dizziness with acupuncture is effective and convenient and receives result within a short time; and hence is worth of promoting. Common one-needle points are Quchi (LI11), Fangchi (GB20), Neiguan (PC6), Taichong (LV3), Xiaxi (GB43), Linggu, Baihui (DU20), Sishencong (EX-HN1).
There are several one-needle points for every disease. In application, one point is effective. Combining two or three one-needle points enhances the efficacy. To get a general idea of the course contents, please read the discussion questions in Chinese page: 20, 21, 27, 28, 35, and 41; or in English page: 3-4, 4-5, 4-6, 5-6, and 6-3. The actual contents of this seminar will be much more abundant and fascinating.
