COURSE DESCRIPTION

The five transport points are commonly used points with a very special role. They encompass the Jing-well, ying-spring, shu-stream, jing-river, and he-sea points which are all located distal to the elbows and knees. As such, they are easy to find as well as convenient and safe to use. Also, they are the foundation of one needle therapy.

And because each of these points is associated with one of the five phases, they act as holographic points for their respective channels. Same as Tung’s points, it is rooted to the theories of five transport and five phases. When applied with flexibility, the transport points are extremely effective in the clinic for treating internal and external diseases of the organs and bowels.

In this course, Dr. Young will share his fresh and creative insights – Zone Theory (Dual Needle Theory); and The Five Transport Points and the relevant Acupuncture protocols for common use TCM formulas that will make the lecture even more clinically applicable.

Goals and objectives:

Locating easy to find as well as convenient and safe to use.

Special Seminars

THE COMPLETE COURSE OF TUNG’S ACUPUNCTURE
This is a 4-day foundation course appropriate for TCM practitioners with many years to no experience in Tung’s Acupuncture. This class will start with an explanation of the theory behind Tung’s acupuncture using Nei Jing and Yi Jing. Then we will go into depth about each point: its location, indication, and theory. The goal of this course is to come away with a clear comprehension of the theory, location, and application of Tung’s points. This course will also be supplemented by many clinical case stories as well as demonstrations.
PREREQUISITE: This is the prerequisite for other advanced courses held by Dr. Young. This course is held typically once a year in June, given in Mandarin and translated to English.

THE ADVANCED COURSE IN TUNG’S ACUPUNCTURE
This is a 4-day advanced seminar in Tung’s Acupuncture. This course will offer advanced theory and look at therapeutic systems.
PREREQUISITE: You MUST HAVE completed the “Complete Course in Tung’s Acupuncture.” This course is typically held every other year around the second week of October. It is given in Mandarin by Dr. Young and translated to English.

ONE-NEEDLE THERAPY
This is a 4-day advanced course that deals with various common diseases and the one point especially effective for them. This seminar will give you the theory and application of these especially effective “one-point”, enabling you to know how to freely select and apply the points in the clinic.
PREREQUISITE: You MUST HAVE completed the “Complete Course in Tung’s Acupuncture.” This course is typically held once every other year around the second week of October. It is given in Mandarin by Dr. Young and translated to English.

SHANG HAN LUN
This is a special seminar on the application of commonly used herbal formulas in Shang Han Lun. Dr. Young taught on this topic only in PhD courses prior. This seminar was initiated after many requests this year and future scheduling for this course is indefinite. Though this is a three-day seminar, attendees will receive course handouts a month in advance to study at home. The home-study material will supplement a day’s worth of material to the three-day seminar to ensure grasp of the material. Dr. Young typically focuses on concept, proficiency and experience when teaching in schools; but this seminar will provide on technique, insights and innovations. PREREQUISITE: This course is held in Mandarin only at this time.

HANDS-ON TEACHING OF POINTS LOCATING
This is a new class added this year (2014) due to the request from students seeking more instruction in the locating and needling of Tung's points. In this class, the focus will be entirely on the practice of locating and needling points. Therefore students must have completed the Complete Course of Tung's Acupuncture prior to attending this course.
